The works of Doris Lenz can be classified as abstract expressionism and also informal painting. While the former style can still be understood today as a creative form of communication that is not based on reason and system but on feeling and spontaneity, the latter does not use fixed rules of composition but expresses the painter's impulses through spontaneous rhythms of lines and patches of colour. The paintings of Doris Lenz testify deep emotionality and impulsiveness.
